Parenting a child with special needs is a journey filled with love, resilience, and unique challenges. While the experience can be rewarding, it also comes with moments of frustration, exhaustion, and isolation. That’s why After the Anger created the Caregivers Support Group—a safe and understanding space where parents and caregivers can share their struggles, find encouragement, and gain practical advice from others who truly understand.

Our support group meets every 2nd and 4th Monday evening in person and Sunday evenings virtually to ensure accessibility for all caregivers. Whether you prefer face-to-face connections or the convenience of an online gathering, we welcome you with open arms.

Why Safe Spaces Matter

Many parents of special needs children feel like they have to suppress their emotions. Society often expects caregivers to be endlessly patient, strong, and self-sacrificing, without acknowledging the very real emotional toll this role can take. Bottling up frustrations or grief can lead to burnout, anxiety, and even depression. Having a dedicated space where you can openly discuss your challenges—without fear of judgment—is crucial for emotional and mental well-being.

What You Can Expect

When you join After the Anger’s support group, you can expect:

  • Open and Honest Conversations: Share your frustrations, joys, and struggles with people who truly get it.

  • Emotional Support: Know that you are not alone—others are walking a similar path and can offer encouragement.

  • Resources and Coping Strategies: Learn effective ways to manage stress, advocate for your child, and balance self-care with caregiving responsibilities.

  • Community and Connection: Form meaningful bonds with other caregivers who can become a part of your support network beyond our meetings.

Join Us

You don’t have to navigate this journey alone. Our meetings provide a safe, judgment-free space where caregivers can be vulnerable, seek advice, and find the strength to continue advocating for their children. If you are a parent, guardian, or caregiver of a special needs child, we invite you to join us for one of our upcoming sessions.

For more details, reach out to us through After the Anger or visit AngryAutismMom.com to learn more.

Together, we can transform anger, frustration, and exhaustion into empowerment, support, and hope.
